Magne Opheim (1898-1987) founded in 1967 the Norwegian Lepidopterological Society and the journal Atalanta. The purpose was to spread knowledge about Norway’s butterfly fauna. The magazine’s name was quickly changed to Atalanta norvegica due to a name conflict with a German magazine. The magazine came with a total of four volumes and 19 issues between 1967 and 1983. In 1983, both the company and the magazine were closed down. Read more about the Norwegian Lepidopterological Society and Atalanta norvegica here >>>
